Our cattle are raised on 9,000 acres of land without the use of hormones, antibiotics or feedlots. Because they are grass-fed and hay-fed, their meat is high in healthy Omega-3 fatty acids and low in potentially harmful Omega-6’s, which are elevated in corn-fed beef. The best of our steers are kept until they are at the perfect point of tenderness and tastiness. Treating our cattle in a stress-free, humane manner contributes to the delicious taste of our beef.
We sell our Centennial Beef to J Bar L guests as well as to local restaurants and health food stores. We also ship our beef by the whole, half or quarter animal, cut as the customer likes and bundled with a collection of scrumptious recipes. Call or email us today if you are interested in purchasing Centennial Beef.
A Day in the Cattle Operation
Guests at the J Bar L may watch or participate (with advance notice) as we work the cows on the 9,000 acres of land. Depending on the time of year and day, we may be checking cows on horseback, moving cows from pasture to pasture, monitoring the grass to ensure land improvement or fixing fences.
During the spring, we brand the calves at the J Bar L’s winter headquarters in Twin Bridges, Montana, located 100 miles from the Ranch. Chefs and J Bar L guests are more than welcome to join us as we brand our cattle.
See our monthly activity schedule if you are interested in watching one aspect or another of the cattle operations while vacationing at the J Bar L Ranch.
